Amway and Northview Next Partnership Creates Opportunities for Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates Youth

At Youth Solutions, our partnerships allow us to inspire Michigan’s youth to achieve their fullest potential in education and employment. We are proud to have Amway as a valued employer partner, actively supporting the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program at the Northview Next Career Center in Grand Rapids. Over the past two years, Amway's unwavering commitment, extensive resources, and dedication have been instrumental in introducing youth to different opportunities, empowering them to explore various career pathways and achieve remarkable outcomes.

On Thursday, May 11, Amway welcomed JMG youth Lucan Hubbart to their team during a Signing Day event held at the Amway World Headquarters in Ada, Michigan. This was the second year in a row that Amway has hosted the Signing Day event for their new employees coming out of Northview Next High School. After the signing ceremony, we asked Lucan how his time in the JMG program at Northview Next prepared him for this opportunity. “It taught me teamwork.” Lucan said, “A lot of teamwork and working with others. It’s helped make me really excited about starting at Amway!”

Along with Amway Corporation’s newest employees, in attendance were staff and students from Northview Next and many current Amway employees - including two JMG alumni, Rylie and Sebastian, who came to support their fellow JMG peer and welcome him to the Amway family.

“Before I took this opportunity at Amway, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. Once I got involved with the culture and family-type atmosphere they have here at Amway, it brought me out of my shell. It made me more confident in life and just as a person. Going through the JMG program at Northview Next also helped me build those life skills and helped give me the expectations I needed to succeed and do well here,” said Rylie Scudder, JMG alumnus and current Amway Corporation Employee. Rylie has been with Amway since graduating in 2022 and has already made such an impact both in his daily job and by mentoring youth from the Northview Next program in hands-on manufacturing experiences.

When asked about the connection Amway has with Northview Next, Mike Ergang, Plant Manager, said “Our growing relationship with Drew, Director of Northview Next High School, and Northview Next has really taken on life and is providing a great example of what this type of partnership can do for both the students and the company involved!” In the upcoming year, Northview Next is excited to welcome 15 youth into their program, collaborating closely with Amway to offer valuable internships and exceptional job placement opportunities to these motivated youth.

Creating connections between companies that align with our mission and the Jobs for Michigan's Graduates program is one of the many ways we are able to impact our youth around the state.
