Meet Jalen Lewis

JMG Alumnus Class of 2020 at Lapeer Family Literacy Center

What’re you doing now? Did you go to college, a trade school, or into the military? If so, where?

I'm currently attending Mott Community College for a degree in criminal justice and psychology.

How did JMG help you prepare for life after high school?

JMG helped me continue life after high school into college. If not for the program and my specialist Ashley, I would've almost certainly never attended college with how difficult it was just to set up my courses.

What did JMG ignite in you?

The program gave me the urge to do better and succeed in everything I do, along with taking on more responsibilities.

What is your favorite memory from your time in JMG?

My favorite memory was revisiting my high school and speaking with the students remaining, and informing them of everything there is after high school and giving the best advice I could provide.

What would you say is your biggest accomplishment since graduation?

Since graduation, my biggest accomplishments, aside from passing a year of college so far, would be purchasing a house in my name.

If you could give someone thinking about joining JMG one piece of advice, what would it be?

If you're currently in high school and looking to continue school after graduation, or planning on applying for college, I would highly recommend going through JMG if given the option. They work with you to see you do your best and answer tough questions along the way. On top of this, they are there to support you for things other than college as well. They will help prepare you and give you all the tools needed to ace a job interview.

Share your hobbies, do you have any pets, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to spend the day taking my girlfriend out to dinner and when it's nice, going to the beach. Shopping at the malls is also something we both enjoy a little too much.
