Providing Youth Opportunities to Careers in Energy

For the fourth year in a row, Youth Solutions is partnering with the Michigan Energy Workforce Development Consortium (MEWDC) to plan this year’s Careers in Energy Week (CIEW). CIEW will be held October 18-22 and will feature both in-person and virtual events to introduce youth and adults alike to the many energy careers available in Michigan. MEWDC is an industry-led partnership of more than 50 representatives of industry, workforce, education, community-based organizations and veterans. It was established in 2009 to address current and future workforce issues that are crucial to building and sustaining Michigan’s energy industry. New this year are three virtual events that are free and open to the public.

On October 19 from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., a virtual career exploration and resource fair will be held to inform and expose high school students, educators, parents, and adult job seekers to energy careers and the multiple avenues and steps they can take to move into a career in energy. Register here. Make sure to stop by our Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates booth and say hi!

The Michigan Energy Careers Job Fair on October 19 from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. is a chance to meet virtually with energy employers from around the state to learn about job opportunities and internships. Participants are encouraged to submit their resumes during pre-registration. Register here.

On October 20 from 9:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m. the Michigan Energy Careers Education Pathways event will feature a panel discussion of professionals from colleges and universities with energy-related programs. This event is for youth, parents, educators and job seekers to learn about educational programs to get into an energy career. Register here.

Youth Solutions is proud to partner with the Michigan Energy Workforce Development Consortium to offer not only our youth, but youth around the state, opportunities in energy. For more information about these three events, please contact Elizabeth Bernhard at bernharde@ouryouthsolutions.org.
