We’re excited to announce that Teagan Agren, a graduating senior from Ogemaw Heights High School has been selected as the 2026 recipient of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Scholarship!
Teagan has demonstrated outstanding resilience, leadership, and academic excellence throughout her high school journey. Despite living with a hearing impairment and overcoming injuries as a student-athlete, Teagan has never allowed adversity to hold her back—continuing to grow, lead, and succeed at a high level. Maintaining a 4.14 GPA and ranking 8th in her class, she has consistently challenged herself with rigorous coursework while excelling in both academics and athletics.
A multi-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, softball, and track and field, Teagan has made a lasting impact on Ogemaw Heights Athletics. She was a key leader on the historic 2025 volleyball team that advanced further in the state tournament than any team in school history, earning a regional championship along the way. In basketball, she recently broke a 39-year-old career rebound record, further cementing her legacy as one of the most accomplished athletes in school history. Coaches describe her as a passionate competitor, a steady leader, and a teammate who elevates everyone around her.
Teagan is also a dedicated member of the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program, as well as Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), Student Advisory Council (SAC), and National Honor Society. Outside of school, she balances a weekend job in the service industry and contributes to youth programs in her community, showing a strong commitment to both responsibility and service.
Her passion for healthcare began through personal experience navigating injuries and medical challenges as an athlete. That interest grew into action when she completed a medical basics course and later earned her CNA license through a healthcare provider program. Through clinical experiences at Rose City Villa and job shadowing at MyMichigan Hospital in West Branch—including exposure to the ER, MRI, X-ray, surgical, and orthopedic settings—Teagan discovered her calling in orthopedic medicine.
This fall, Teagan will begin her postsecondary journey at Delta Community College, where she plans to study exercise science before transferring to Central Michigan University and continuing on to medical school. Her long-term goal is to become an orthopedic physician and return to her community to serve patients at MyMichigan Hospital and beyond.
Teagan shared, “This scholarship will help me focus more on my education and less on financial stress as I work toward my goals. I want to use my future career to help others and give back to the community that has supported me.”
We are honored to support Teagan as she works toward a future dedicated to helping others and making a lasting impact in her community.
