First Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates College Program at Northwestern Michigan College

This fall, Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) launched its first college program at Northwestern Michigan College (NMC). The JMG program will help students feel connected to each other and the campus community, while being offered support and exposure to career pathways. Students will have the opportunity to learn about different careers and what it takes to get to their chosen career. In addition, youth might have the opportunity to be mentored by or job shadow someone in their chosen field, or receive work experience. Lisa Baldyga, JMG Specialist with Networks Northwest, will also be the Specialist for NMC. Her connection to the Michigan Works! system will provide students many opportunities to find employers who will visit campus to showcase their business ready to engage with NMC students.

"I really enjoy being a JMG Specialist,” expressed Lisa. “The connection we can create with our students is very unique. JMG Specialists mentor, strengthen relationships, believe that every student has something to offer, give students options, help them find their voice, create a sense of belonging, and help prepare them for a future beyond their imagination! In return, these students inspire me and shape me into being a better person!"
