Za’Indya Street, an alumna of the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program at the Bridge Academy of Southwest Michigan, has shown incredible determination in the face of personal and socioeconomic challenges. At just 16, she became one of the academy's first students to graduate early while working to support herself and planning for her future.
Through JMG, Za’Indya received more than just academic support—she found guidance, resources, and a network of caring adults who believed in her. While completing her diploma, she worked closely with the Youth Solutions Workforce Pathways Team. One of her most impactful experiences came when she applied for the Corewell Health GROWTH Internship. Although she knew that she would be ineligible for the internship due to her age, she was able to gain valuable experience with the application and interview process and was even ranked as the top interviewee.
Once eligible, she reapplied and was accepted, gaining valuable experience and industry connections through the internship. Now pursuing a Pharmacy Technician degree at Lake Michigan College, Za’Indya remains actively involved in her community, serving on the Youth Advisory Council and volunteering at events like the Career Development Conference.
Her journey reflects the power of persistence and the impact of JMG in helping youth overcome barriers and pursue meaningful careers.
Congratulations, Za’Indya, on being recognized as an Exemplary Youth of the Year at the 2025 Career Development Conference! We are proud of all you’ve accomplished and excited for the bright future ahead!
