Youth Solutions Select (YS Select) supports schools and districts in the creation of a comprehensive Career Development Program that includes Educational Development Plan (EDP) support, student talent portfolios, and employer engagement opportunities through the collaboration between a consultant and key stakeholders within the school. This service will work with schools to ensure all youth, starting as early as sixth grade, have opportunities to explore and gain exposure to multiple career pathways through Youth Solutions' employer engagement activities embedded directly into the school culture.
Union High School recently partnered with Youth Solutions to pilot YS Select. This year, Union will be focusing on infusing project-based career development curriculum into their 9th grade Academic Strategies classes. As part of the participation in YS Select, Union will work with a consultant to conduct a thorough needs assessment and design a Career Development Program that meets the needs of the students, school, and key community stakeholders. Employer engagement activities and on-going professional development will ensure that both students and staff have the tools necessary for success.
Through this partnership, YS Select will provide nearly 400 students with career development services. In the future, we hope to grow our partnership school-wide as they expand the Career Development Program to include students in all grade levels. The goal of YS Select is to assist schools in creating robust career opportunities to help youth achieve a future beyond imagination.
We are looking for additional schools to partner with to pilot this service.
