June is Youth Employment Month in Michigan, and partnerships are so important to provide work opportunities for youth. Our partnership with Michigan’s Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) supports the work we do to prepare youth for the workforce and help provide them with these work experience opportunities.
Recently, Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates Workforce Pathways Program along with Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren, The Bridge Academy of Southwest Michigan, and the Young Professionals program, all came together to enroll 20 youth into Spectrum Health Lakeland’s GROWTH Internship. This internship provides an 8 week paid work experience at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital giving participants the opportunity for hands-on experience working in different clinical and nonclinical settings to explore careers in health care. During the internship, participants also get credit for a course at Lake Michigan College, a bank account set up atHonor Credit Union, and receive financial literacy classes!
