DaNysha Stroman, a student from Waterford Durant High School, faced many challenges when she started her senior year. Struggling with attendance, academics, low self-esteem, transportation, and limited work experience, she was uncertain about her future and unsure how to navigate a path toward a career.
Everything began to change when DaNysha joined the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program her senior year, where she received encouragement and support that helped her stay motivated and overcome obstacles. Through JMG, she built confidence in herself and discovered that she could achieve more than she once believed possible.
With persistence and hard work, DaNysha reached her first major goal—graduating high school. After high school, with support from her local Michigan Works! office, she completed her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training and began working at a local nursing home. In her role, she provides compassionate care to patients while building essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. She quickly proved her dedication to caring for others, gaining valuable hands-on experience and a clearer vision for her future in healthcare.
After six months on the job, DaNysha took another big step toward her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse by enrolling at Oakland Community College. While balancing college with her part-time work at the nursing home, she is demonstrating strong time management, determination, and resilience—qualities that will serve her well in her nursing career. Her dedication to helping others continues to guide her on the path toward a fulfilling career in healthcare.
DaNysha’s journey shows how perseverance, hard work, and the right support can turn uncertainty into opportunity and set the stage for a meaningful and successful career.
