Meet our New YAC Chairperson - Nolan Henson

We are excited to introduce our newly appointed Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Chairperson: Nolan Henson! The YAC is a group of emerging leaders who are passionate about Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) programming and want to help advocate for Youth Solutions and provide new opportunities to incorporate the youth voice.

From the moment Nolan entered the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program at Southwestern Classical Academy, he was passionate about the mission of Youth Solutions: equipping young people with the skills to overcome barriers and succeed in education, employment, and in life. Nolan credits his public speaking and networking abilities to the leadership and communication skills developed while in the JMG program. As a JMG Alumnus and former Youth Solutions Intern, Nolan has stayed connected to Youth Solutions and is dedicated to helping other youth reap the same benefits of the program.

“I believe today is no better time to equip young people with the skills to lead for tomorrow. I'm looking forward to assessing the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates and Youth Solutions community needs and developing ideas to help meet those needs and help create even more success stories,” says Nolan.

This year, as YAC Chair, Nolan is leading the fundraising efforts of the first ever YAC scholarship on Giving Tuesday, November 29. This annual YAC Scholarship is a youth-led initiative that provides JMG youth the opportunity to apply and win scholarship funds toward postsecondary education and/or skilled trades.

We are grateful for Nolan’s involvement and leadership in YAC and look forward to seeing the amazing things he will accomplish on behalf of Youth Solutions and the JMG program.
