Empowering Michigan’s Youth: JMG Specialists Lead the Way

In the ongoing mission to equip Michigan's youth with an actionable plan after graduation, our Jobs for Michigan's Graduates (JMG) specialists have once again showcased their dedication and commitment. Recently, nine of our specialists undertook the FAFSA Certified Specialist Training facilitated by the Michigan College Access Network. This certification not only enhances their expertise but also signifies their readiness to guide students through the intricacies of the financial aid process.

The JMG specialists who received certification are;

  • Haley Rhoades, Marquette-Alger Technical Middle College

  • Jocelynn Braddock, Hartford High School

  • Carolyn Miller, Pershing High School

  • Kim Benz, Cadillac Innovation High School & Wexford -Missaukee CTC Culinary & CTE Programs

  • Katie Chrismer, Family Literacy Center

  • Nicole Medellin, GST Michigan Works!

  • Jessica Lundy, Michigan Works! West Central-Lake County

  • Rosie Teodosio and Shemeca Thompson, GST Michigan Works! Flint Service Center.

Recognizing the importance of sharing knowledge, JMG specialists Katie Chrismer and Nicole Medelline spearheaded a 'train the trainer' at Youth Solutions weekly professional development for the JMG statewide network. This collaborative effort ensures that the benefits of certification are not confined to a few individuals but are shared widely, amplifying our collective impact on the youth we serve.

By investing in certification and training, our JMG specialists reaffirm their commitment to empowering Michigan's youth. They stand as pillars of support, guiding students along multiple career pathways and providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world. We celebrate the dedication and passion of our specialists, who serve as beacons of hope for the next generation.
