Despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic created during the past year, our premier program, Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) exceeded our goals in helping Michigan’s young people stay connected and reconnect to earn their high school diploma and pursue further education or employment. JMG achieved a 94% graduation rate and 62% of those youth were also placed into employment. In addition, 83% of those placed into employment are working full-time. This is the ninth year in a row that JMG has achieved a 90% or higher graduation rate.
We know that the pandemic caused significant challenges, particularly in the education and employment space. At the peak of the pandemic, 1 in every 3 youth across the state (37%) were disconnected from education and employment. Our programs exist to keep youth engaged in education and prepare them for future success.
Our specialists, throughout the state, are the boots on the ground, dedicating their time and expertise to the young people in the program. Because of their dedication, they found ways to overcome the challenges of online learning and continued to teach employability and life skills, and expose youth to education and employment possibilities that allowed them to create future goals for themselves. Not only create the goals, but continue to strive to attain them. It is because of the relationships they create that enable their youth to work toward a future beyond imagination. At Youth Solutions we are on a mission to equip young people with the skills to overcome barriers and succeed in education, employment and in life.
